My experience has been mostly in radio thus far, though I've also been on set as an extra in a few movies and MC'ed events for groups as large as 600 people. I long to break into radio and tv commercials, announcements/promo's and narration, particularly, as well as animated movie roles or cartoon characters. My dream jobs would be either to become the next narrator for NFL Films or to have my own radio or television talk show one day. I could see myself anchoring almost any type of television program as well.
I have done public service announcements, traffic and weather reporting, entertainment and news reporting, and commercials. I have also had my own 15-minute syndicated radio show on stations across the Southwest, where I wrote, produced and announced the entire program. I've also been an extra in a few movies and grew up in Southern California, so I have some familiarity with the entertainment business, being on set, etc.
While it has been some time, I still have all of my skills, refined through constant practice and for my own amusement and the entertainment of those around me. I would like to return to using my talents now in as many projects as possible to build a powerful portfolio and eventually be able to pick and choose the best jobs. I believe my voice is unique, exceptional and memorable, and would be a refreshing change from many heard in media today. I would like to use my best attributes to contribute something meaningful to the world in the time I have left here, and to enhance the enjoyment of media for whoever hears my voice.
In all candor, my training has been real-world--at a radio station in California and a production studio in Phoenix--and some time ago, but I know there is always an ever-increasing need for talent, and I've got it. All I can say is, please listen to my demo and make your own judgment.
I also know there is a lot happening here in Michigan in the movie and music industries, and I live within twenty minutes of Detroit. Also, I have family ties in LA, Chicago and Phoenix, so I could do temporary assignments or projects in any of those places, but I also wouldn't be adverse to working in New York or elsewhere for an assignment. In about five years, my kids will be off to college, and then I would be free to go anywhere for a permanent position, if it came to be.
I graduated Cum Laude from California State University, Northridge, with a Bachelors in Humanities, emphasis in Literature and Classics.
Well, as I mentioned, it's been a long time, but there are several studios here in the Detroit area, and I would buy the time needed to complete any tracks. I do have the radio experience to produce tracks, though I need to get familiar with today's equipment. That can be done, however. Just please give a listen to my voice--that's what matters! I can find the right people and get the production part done.
I can also copywrite and have had extensive experience in creating marketing materials, advertising and web content, etc. I also write a monthly column for a very large industry-specific website and do creative writing as well. I can create material and voice it as needed, depending upon the industry or product. I have created company training manuals, risk and safety programs, product labeling and safety programs, stock letters, sales letters, brochures, flyers, newsletters, web content, etc. My writing is about as versatile as my voice!
