My Voice Experience
I've recorded background and lead vocals for two rock CD's (mp3's from which can be furnished upon request). Music from one of those CD's was used as the soundtrack for an independent film entitled "Getting Out Of Rhode Island".
Professional "phone blast" recordings for NaturaLawn of America in early 2007, which were sent to over 10,000 phones in the Eastern Massachusetts region.
Most recently, I did voice acting for the soundtrack of a children's puppet show called "The Dragon King". Featured in 5 different roles:
- Narrator
- Fisherman
- an eel ("Skater Dude" type of voice)
- a young fish ('Tween voice - 10 to 12 year old)
- Lord Chamberlain the tortoise (stuffy, nasally, dismissive, older gentleman type).
My Training
No formal education. My performance experience comes from performing in an acoustic duo called "The BaysicS" for over 12 years.
Under an earlier band name ("Rook"), recorded background vocals for an album. After I became the lead vocalist, the band changed it's name to "The BaysicS", where we wrote and recorded a new album, "3 Years On The Couch". Beyond vocals, I also wrote lyrics for 4 and assisted in writing lyrics for another 3 of the 11 tracks.
Recently, I left the band to explore other opportunities in the art field. But, I am still very interested in keeping ties to the voice acting industry.
My Studio Equipment
I have my own microphone setup with pop screen and multi-track recording software in my office. Sound buffering and proofing, while not the ideal for recording studios, is adequate. I have enough knowledge to remove up to 95% of BG noise with little effort on my part.
While I CAN mix down and even master tracks with this software, I would not trust my own knowledge to that degree to do it properly. Best to leave that to the professionals. I am available with a few days notice to appear at a studio if required to do so.
Additional Skills
I am a customer service representative for a lawn care company, full time. I feel this should be important because it conveys my ability to communicate with people vocally. (I've actually been told on MANY occasions that I have "a voice made for radio" when people hear me answer the phone.)
I am also a semi-professional comic book illustrator. I have created, written, illustrated and published 2 issues and am currently working on my 3rd as time allows. The name of my comic is "Wandering Trials". (Note: Admittedly, I'm not sure if this is useful information. But, I figured it might give some insight to my more creative aspects.)
