Voice Description

"Like a REAL person",that's how people usually describe my work. From soccer Mom for political campaigns, to Alien baby, Cookie the grizzled cowboy,lilting Irish girl, and teenage boy, I've developed voice characters in my voice-over work that range in description from sweet, sexy, sultry, dry, perky, encouraging, trustworthy, believable to raw, sharp, demanding and edgy. I have a special talent for expressing information like that found in technical readings, books on tape, documentaries, infomercials, presentations and other commercial, and professional readings in a clear and understandable yet expressive manner. My travels have given me exposure to many dialects and tongues but have worn the accent out of my everyday voice. However, I'm enough of a Texan to understand the subleties of a dozen types of Southern US (ie Dallas and Ft Worth are not the same accent) and love to study and mimic all kinds of inflections from Minnesota,Chicago, Northeast, New York and Spanish influenced English.

My Voice Experience

I started my post college career in sales. Sales is just a transfer of enthusiasm. That's the same way I approach my work as a voice actor and producer. In over 30 years of voice work, writing, and production I have been a morning show and midday host for contemporay jazz and contemporary Christian music radio, a news reporter, copy writer, producer, voiced over 800 telephone messages on hold (MOH) and IVR for clients like Nokia, been the in-store voice for retail including Kroger, voiced thousands of radio and television and internet commercials. I have also performed in projects including video games, websites, industrial and business training and documentary videos as well as corporate, educational and charity presentations. I'm always looking for a new challenge.

My Training

I've been reading out loud since I was a child and participated in acting, phone work, and pulbic speaking all my life but began my professional career as a volunteer for a local radio station over 30 years ago! I have never stopped learning, practicing, working with my voice and have worked with numerous trainers and mentors throughout my career.
