In LA, I studied voiceover with Adam Arkin and Keri Tombazian. In Portland I work closely with a highly regarded, very experienced voice coach as well as continually "sharpening the saw" by taking seminars offered by working voice professionals and visiting voice coaches and producers.
My home studio is outfitted with a dedicated soundproof booth, high-quality mic, and powerful pre-amp; I record and edit many non-broadcast projects in-house. For broadcast work I prefer to record at a nearby recording studio/post-production house with which I have a close & long-time relationship (and where I get great rates).
Before and at the beginning of my voiceover career, I worked for years in advertising as a copywriter. This experience has proven invaluable. I get copy. I know exactly how it's supposed to be read. And in fact, I have clients who still ask me to write for them. The two professions - VO and copywriting - work beautifully together.
