Voice Description

I love playing with my voice. I especially like sounding sexy, bass and seductive. But hyper and fun loving is a piece of cake too. I can do the very professional and serious thing for commercials requiring that, for depression, for example.

I grew up in Quebec, Canada in an English family, but took learning French very seriously. Therefore, I am primarily English, but also speak French. I can sound very Canadian French if I have to, but people have told me that my French resembles more the Parisienne. Having been abroad in Asia for 7 years, I also studied Chinese (Mandarin). This is a beautiful language, and doesn't sound at all like I thought it did when I was a kid!!!

I've enjoyed teaching children in Asia and for that reason, picked up some character voices. Some are more like animals, others like fantasy characters, and still others like cartoon characters.

Accents, Impersonations, Characters and Dialects

With a French background,a sexy and seductive French accent is a piece of cake. On top of that, I have fun with that accent, playing a cartoon character I saw a long time ago of a French robber; my British accent leans toward a gay eccentric, and that has served me well in the past for special projects.

My Voice Experience

Public speaking has always been a forte of mine; therefore broadcasting comes naturally, so to speak. I'm so comfortable behind the mic or in front of the camera. For that reason, I was in demand in Asia as word got around of my voice and acting talent. I was called on by the government of Taiwan to handle English presentation film voiceovers for museums opening on the island. Several large corporations requested my voice and presence for instructional manuals and videos as they were launching their products or services into the European field.

I had fun performing a series of English educational videos for both children and adults. This is where I really learned the flexibility of my voice. I played anything from a choo choo train to a business executive.

For the longest part, I was a host of an English educational radio show. I have sample demos of this show at request. This was great and allowed me to be so natural as I interacted with students on air and taught them in a fun but mature way.

My Training

I was thrown into the world of voice over work and broadcasting simply by professionals hearing me and wanting my voice for work they had. I enjoyed it so much I wanted to enhance my natural abilities. I graduated with honors from the National Institute of Broadcasting in Toronto, Canada. In that set of courses, I learned everything from script marking to commercial work to acting to dj work to news and radio, etc. It was extremely fun and a hilight of my life thus far.

I am a professional Internet marketer, but interestingly, I prefer the arts as a career. I can dance and sing, and keep fit at the gym 3 times a week. I am also a writer and have extensive experience in scriptwriting. I know the power of the written word, and the importance of taking that and delivering it orally in the way the writer purposed to elicit the intended reaction(s). This is an art, and I have both the skill to write and the skill to lift the written word off the page and to deliver it orally or on camera perfectly.
